2012 Annual Empty Bowls Benefit - Saturday March 10th - 11:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Green Valley High School Cafeteria - 460 Arroyo Grande Blvd.

(just North of Warm Springs Rd.) Henderson, Nevada

Each spring since 2000, Nevada Clay Guild members and friends have donated hand-made ceramic bowls for the Las Vegas Catholic Worker Empty Bowl Benefit. People are invited to choose their own unique bowl and enjoy a luncheon of soup and bread. Many people buy multiple bowls for gifts. It is a great family event with live music and fun for kids.

Live and Silent Auctions of original ceramic, fiber, and painted art are featured.

All proceds from the luncheon benefit the Las Vegas Catholic Worker soupline, serving the poor and homeless.

...........And it’s not too early to start throwing or hand building bowls to donate. This directly feeds the homeless and hungry who visit the Las Vegas Catholic Worker soup lines five mornings a week, all year round.

Dinnerware Place Setting
The place setting could be wheel thrown, hand-built, slip-cast or bisque ware bought and hand decorated. The typical place setting includes a dinner plate, salad plate, soup bowl, and a drinking vessel. This way every mode of ceramics could be represented.

Cups and Mugs
There will be a separate table to sell cups and mugs, tumblers, goblets, chalices, tea bowls and other drinking vessels.

Silent and Live Auctions
Members can donate one-of-a-kind pieces of pottery for the silent and live auctions. Anything handmade is acceptable.

Bowls
The bowls generally range from 4-6 inches in height and 5-8 inches in diameter. They can be high, medium or low fire work. Hand built or wheel thrown. If you use your own clay (a 2 lb. bowl), your own glazes and fire in your own kiln, you are also eligible to receive a tax receipt from Las Vegas Catholic Worker in the suggested amount of $3 per bowl. To do so, turn your bowls into Donna Potter, receive a receipt, and then contact Gary Cavalier of LVCW, who will be available during the EB event at the Green Valley HS cafeteria.

Pet Bowls
The pet bowls will be part of the general bowl table. They can be decorated to represent the intended pet. All sizes are acceptable.

All auction items can be brought to Green Valley High School by 9:30 a.m. the morning of the event. It would be appreciated if you could deliver bowls or make arrangements for pick-up or delivery of bowls (or any of the other donations) with Donna Potter.
