Please read completely before submitting your application
This exhibit is open to current members of the Nevada Clay Guild (NCG) and all members are encouraged to enter. If you would like to join the Clay Guild in order to participate in the exhibit, include the $35 membership fee and submit the membership form via the website. Current members, you will have the option to renew your membership upon completion of the Library Show Application. Our website is linked to our secure PayPal account. You do not have to have a PayPal account to submit payment.
The exhibit will be at the Sahara West Library, 9600 West Sahara Avenue, Las Vegas, Nevada, 89117.
The exhibit will run from July 19 - September 15, 2018. Once a piece is in the show, it may not be removed until September 16, 2018 (to do so would violate the terms of our agreement with the Library District, which could cause future shows to be cancelled). The opening reception will be on Thursday, July 19, 2018, from 5:30 - 7 p.m. at the Sahara West Library Gallery.
The fee for participating in the exhibit is $10 per member for up to three pieces. This gallery has museum quality glass cases, so larger pieces are encouraged. Wall hanging pieces are also encouraged, as wall space is ample. Unless a piece is damaged in any way (chipped, cracked, blistered, etc.) you are guaranteed to get at least one piece into the exhibit. With guidance from the Gallery Services Coordinator, the committee will select work well suited for the space as well as pieces which will best showcase various building, firing and decoration techniques. The committee reserves the right to reject pieces that are damaged as previously mentioned.
All pieces must be delivered ready for display. If your pieces are to hang, the library requires that, they must be outfitted with a closed ring (or a D ring). If you want something on a stand, you must provide the stand and mark it with your name. Also, if there is a front to your piece, please mark with a removable piece of paper. The Library has final say in the installation of the pieces. A guide sheet entitled “Preparing Your Art for Your Exhibit” has been provided by the Library and is attached to the entry form.
An entry can be a single piece or a set (i.e., teapot and cups on a tray). You may enter all forms, functional or sculptural, and all firing techniques (high-fire, cone 5/6, low-fire, raku, soda, salt, crystal, wood or pit fired) are acceptable. Slip-cast items will only be accepted if the NCG member made the original piece and mold. Every entry should be a piece that has not been previously exhibited in a NCG show. You are asked to put a value on your piece. This is the selling price or insurance value for your piece. If you do not wish to sell any item, please note that this piece is “not for sale” on the entry form.
Early drop off information will be coming soon.
If you would like to drop off your work to the library, drop off is Wednesday July 18, Noon to 1:30pm. After 1:30 the library will not be accepting work.
Exhibit Committee members will transport early entries to the West Sahara Library. Pieces which are selected for exhibit will remain until the exhibit has ended. Pieces not selected will be repackaged and returned to you at the opening reception. By entering in this exhibit you agree to the terms and conditions in this letter, and that NCG members who will transport your work to and from the exhibit space shall not be held responsible for accidental damage caused as a result of moving/transporting pieces. While at the library, pieces will be covered by Library District insurance.
If dropping off early, please have your work in closed containers/boxes for safe and easy transport. Print your name in large letters on the outside of the box.
Pick-up at the end of the show will be on Sunday September 16, 2018 from 12:00 noon – 2 p.m. at the Sahara West Library Gallery. If you are unable to pick up your work, please arrange for someone else to do so. Pieces not picked up within 2 weeks will be donated to the NCG for Empty Bowls.
